My friend Lauryn Bosstick, host of Slimming Secrets, is guest posting today! She’s an expert on skincare routines and a big fan of ice facials (the subject of her post today). Today she’s sharing her secrets to glowing skin!
I’m so excited to be guest posting on Healthy Mommy today. From the blog to the Wellnesse product line to Katie herself, I’ve been a fan for years.Katie was Him and her show A few years ago talking about how to optimize every aspect of your life, running a business, raising children, etc. She has been a hot topic in health and wellness conversations for some time.
my story
Anyway, today I’m going to talk about the benefits of icing your face. My name is Lauryn Bosstick and I’m the creator, founder, author and podcast co-host of The Skinny Confidential.
A few years ago, we launched a line of preventive beauty tools in pink that you can seamlessly integrate into your daily routine. The first product we launched was the Skinny Confidential Ice Roller, and to this day it remains one of our best-sellers.
It all started when I had double jaw surgery And went through the horrific healing process. Recovery took twice as long as I imagined, leaving me bloated, looking like the sloth from The Goonies, and, honestly, having a bit of an identity crisis. When I say I tried everything to speed healing and reduce swelling, I mean everything.
The most effective method I have found is ice rolling. I would buy these cheap little ice rollers off Amazon one after another. Why? Because they break and don’t last long at all.
Rolling ice works for me. Icing my face immediately took away the puffiness and redness and it felt so good. With a gentle massage, it also helps drain my lymph nodes, eliminates puffiness, and helps restore my jawline.
Fast forward a few years and my team and I have launched our own ice roller, which is like the Rolls Royce of ice rollers. Think large silicone handles, aluminum rollers that stay cool for longer, fingerprints for ultimate control, and something that will last for weeks without breaking. Plus, like all TSC skin care products, it’s a pretty pink color that you’ll want to display on your dressing table.
So, next, let’s learn about the benefits of icing your skin and hypothermia on your face.
Benefits of Ice Facial for Your Face
Reduce inflammation and puffiness
Ice is a natural anti-inflammatory agent that reduces swelling and helps improve skin condition. So, put some ice on your face and say goodbye to the angry redness and swelling of acne, rashes, blemishes, and/or irritation.
Minimize the appearance of pores
We all want baby-smooth skin. Ice can help minimize the appearance of pores by constricting blood vessels and locking in the products you use. So, put some ice cubes on your face and get your complexion closer to super smooth.
Soothes and calms sensitive skin
If you have sensitive skin, an ice facial is a great way to soothe and calm your skin by reducing redness, inflammation and swelling. For people with eczema or rosacea, it’s also a great way to prevent breakouts and promote circulation and healthy skin.
In addition, ice application for 20 minutes twice a day for 6 weeks is said to increase skin thickness by up to 32%. Rubbing ice on your face can help increase circulation, support skin health and help reverse the aging process.
Help makeup last longer
Ice helps keep your skin fresh and moisturized, which goes a long way in preparing your skin cells for makeup application. This allows for better product application, and better application means your makeup will last longer.
Reduce the appearance of eye bags
Applying ice to the dark eye area can help reduce puffiness and dark circles, thereby reducing eye bags. Get ready to reduce eye puffiness and make it look like you slept a full 8 hours, even if you only slept 5 hours.
Instant plastic surgery
Who needs plastic surgery when you have ice? Ice can provide an instant facelift by tightening and firming the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Much better than spending money at the dermatologist on things like retinol and peels that can come with potentially unwanted side effects. So instead of spending thousands of dollars on plastic surgery, buy some ice.
How to Use the Skinny Confidential Ice Roller for an Ice Facial:
- Store the rollers in the refrigerator or freezer, depending on your preference.
- If you choose to freeze, roll it on your wrist about 8 times before using on your face (we want to make sure the temperature isn’t too cold).
- Roll up and out on your face and down the sides of your neck to drain lymph.
- You can repeat as many times as you like.
Personally, I wake up and roll ice. Okay, that’s almost it. I first use a Wellnesse copper tongue scraper to scrape my tongue and then roll it in ice. I also do this before my skin care and makeup.
Important tips for ice rollers:
- When traveling, use a hotel ice bucket to keep your rollers cool (beach club wine buckets work too, haha).
- Store your rollers in our sleeping bags to prevent the growth of bacteria and frozen peas in the freezer.
- You can also roll ice into sore muscles after strenuous exercise.
- To clean the rollers, use a mild detergent and a soft, damp cloth. Lather and wipe clean. Let it dry on the counter.
If you don’t like rollers, just grab an ice cube and start massaging it on your face. You can also fill a bowl with water and ice and use the ice water to give your face a cool ice bath. It all works.
