Hi friends! How was your week? I hope you’re doing well so far. We had dinner with friends and I had an amazing hot yoga class.

In today’s post, I will share my latest review of my beloved sauna blanket, HigherDOSE. Every time I post about this magical wonder on my Instagram Stories, I am filled with questions. I did quite a bit of research before finally testing the HigherDOSE Sauna Blanket, so I’m breaking it all down in this post.

I have been using this beauty for over a year now and have so many good things to say about it. It has become one of the non-negotiables in my weekly wellness practice and has had a huge impact on my skin and mood.

What is a HighDOSE sauna blanket and how does it work?

The HighDOSE Sauna Blanket is a portable version of an infrared sauna for home use. It uses infrared heat (heating your body from the inside out, not the other way around), along with healing layers of tourmaline crystals, clay, and charcoal (essentially magnetic layers that create negative ions). It’s made from non-toxic materials and has an extremely low electromagnetic field, so it doesn’t emit radiation throughout your body when you relax and sweat.

To set it up, you just unfold the blanket and insert it! You can easily adjust the heat level using the remote control, I usually give it about 10 minutes or so to heat up.

Benefits of infrared sauna:

Sauna means “bath” in Finnish, and heat therapy has been used for thousands of years. Infrared technology was born in the late 1800s. Over time, saunas were used for many purposes, including treating and preventing disease, preparing for burial, and giving birth. (It’s fun to read some history about saunas here!) It encompasses the cycle of life, with heat considered a powerful protective and life-giving force.

Obviously, technology has changed a lot since then, but many people still use saunas today for health and rejuvenation. You can find them in gyms, spas, and many people have one at home. Sauna can help with aging, illness, detoxification, healthy glowing skin, increased blood flow, improved circulation, reduced anxiety, muscle soreness, relaxation and improved mood. Not everyone agrees with the detox aspect (some say it’s a myth, but I’m a big believer in the detoxifying powers of a good sweat), I’ve noticed it makes my skin glow, my mood improves, and I feel better when it becomes I feel good and relaxed when it’s part of my daily routine.

Here are some pros and cons about the HighDOSE option:

advantage:

– Compact and portable! ! I would love to have a full size home infrared sauna, but we have zero space here. It would be weird if I had to put it in my closet. I also considered the backyard option, but when you live in Arizona, the thought of a snake or scorpion getting into a sauna terrifies me. The HighDOSE Infrared Sauna Blanket gives you the same benefits of infrared light, but in a smaller, compact package that allows you to move it easily. I usually use it on the floor in my office or in my living room.

– It feels great. I’m almost addicted to the wonderful feeling it makes me feel and use it every day. (I usually have time to do it 3-4 times a week, usually after I put the crew to bed! I just listen to a podcast or play a show on my iPad.) I love sweating it out, it fills me up with endorphins Peptides. My skin looks brighter after use, I sleep like a baby, and despite the strength training I’ve been doing, I don’t notice any muscle soreness.

shortcoming:

– I’ve come back to this post three times and I still can’t remember it. I’m very happy with it and haven’t noticed any issues or pain points. My only negative is that the older version of the blanket had a Velco closure; they updated it with a zipper closure that is super easy to use.

Tips for using HighDOSE sauna blanket:

When you use a blanket, be sure to read the instruction manual and guide, but these are just some of my suggestions:

– Plug in and heat for approximately 10 minutes. Make sure it is on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Consider dry brushing while you wait for help awakening your lymphatic system.

– Find your choice of sauna clothing. They recommend wearing light, breathable, loose-fitting clothing and wrapping yourself in a blanket. I wore lightweight cotton joggers, a tank top with a long sleeve T-shirt underneath, and stockings. I also placed a small towel under my tailbone otherwise my booty would get too hot from being pressed against the blanket on the tile. They just added a sauna towel insert that you can use too!

– Find some entertainment during your sauna session. Reading a book is difficult because you don’t want to keep reaching out with your arms to turn the pages, but a TV show or movie, audiobook, or podcast will do.

– Sweat it! You can try adjusting the heat settings and time to see what works best for you, I recommend gradually increasing it rather than starting too hot or for too long. You will find that your heart rate will increase a bit and you will start to sweat. Generally speaking, users prefer to use it for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 45 minutes. It feels great. My best time is 35 minutes at level 7. (I always set a timer on my phone so I don’t fall asleep!)

– When I get out of the blanket, I turn it on to start drying and then jump in the shower. After the shower, the blanket had cooled down a bit so I was able to give it a good clean with one of the wipes. These are the same cleaning wipes I use for Peloton! I always unplug the power cord when I’m done using it. Then I wanted to get the benefits of hot and cold therapy in a cold shower.

– I let it dry and cool completely, then folded and slid it under the bed for storage. (When storing, make sure the power cord is not wrapped or bundled. Try to wrap it as gently as possible.)

– For traveling, they also have a super convenient travel bag! I will be taking this with me for all future road trips.
