Biscuit Run: Wednesday Weigh-In: Week 177

Well, it’s only been two short weeks!

I wasn’t planning on stopping blogging for so long, but it’s been nice to have my computer collecting dust for the past two weeks 😉 I’ve been wanting to do a “catch up” post (for the last few) for a few months, haha ), but I don’t even know where to start. As I blog each day, I start trying to come up with things to write about; although I don’t have anything important to write about yet, it feels good not to feel completely blocked when I sit down to write.

If I were to boil the past two weeks down to one takeaway, it would be that without a routine (and we all know this), I don’t do well. A few months ago I actually managed to get into the most normal sleep routine I’ve ever had (and I’ve never had a “normal” sleep pattern – insomnia has plagued me my entire life). I make myself turn off the lights before 10pm, which is unheard of for me (my brain just won’t shut off). At first, it was really hard to go to sleep so early, but as I’ve gotten older, I like waking up earlier rather than staying up late. So I kind of pushed myself and ended up getting a full six hours of sleep – ten to four – almost every day. And I only wake up once or twice at night!

[Another reason I like going to bed early is because it stops me from snacking at night, which is a big issue for me.]

A few weekends ago, Jerry and I went to a friend’s house to play some board games. I’m a little worried about how it will affect my sleep, but I don’t want to be held hostage on a weekend night and not get out and do stuff! We had a great time and it wasn’t even late. I think we got home around 11:30.

However, I was wide awake and didn’t fall asleep until after 3:00, and then again until 7:00 – but one day, my sleep schedule was disrupted. After that, my body asked me to stay up late again. A week later, just as I was starting to get back to my old life, we had another “late night” on Sunday (a few days ago). Jerry and I took the kids to Detroit to see Bill Burr (Christmas Present). I “loved” spending time with just the four of us, we had so much fun! Again, it wasn’t a very late night, but now I’m having a hard time falling asleep. again.

For those of you who go to bed early (obviously, “early” is different for everyone; in my case, I’m thinking around 9:00-10:00), how do you handle being out “late” on the weekends? ? Has it disrupted your daily life? I’m thinking that if I continue to wake up at the same time every day, even after a late night, it will be easier to fall asleep the next night. I’ll try that next time instead of trying to sleep in.

Anyway, as my sleep schedule got disrupted, it disrupted everything else. On top of that, Jerry was working on a work project that caused a slight change in his schedule (thankfully, it was only two weeks!).

Even though I’m not blogging, I’ve been busy working on projects around the house (and a few other people’s projects). Oh, and spring cleaning! We’ve had a few nice, warm days recently – I love opening the windows, putting on some music, and doing some spring cleaning/organizing. On a nice day with the windows open, cleaning is no longer a chore. My house was very clean yesterday; a clean house always puts me in a good mood.

As far as my diet goes over the past few weeks, I’m doing pretty well. It’s not great because late at night always makes me snack; however, when it comes to eating, I’m doing pretty well. I guess it’s balanced out enough since my weight is pretty much the same as it was two weeks ago.

My score was 143.2, down from 143.6; still about 10 pounds more than I wanted, but as long as I didn’t gain I won’t complain 😉

For the next week, my main focus is going to bed early (so no snacking). One of Dr. Greger’s 21 Tweaks [for weight loss] It is recommended not to snack after 7:00 pm – I noticed that my weight changed a lot when I followed this guideline. The last few times my weight has dropped into the 120s have been when I stopped snacking in the evening (or I ate a piece of fruit, some dates, plums, or something similar).

I also want to write letters often. At the very least, I wanted to do Friday Night Photos because it’s always been a kind of diary for me – looking back at my week – and I love that. I haven’t done it in a long time so I just have to pick and choose what to share, but after that I want to go back to doing it once a week!
