According to a “60 Minutes” report on February 4, 2024, although the illegal immigrants flowing through the southern border of the United States come from all over the world, the fastest-growing group comes from China. A 4-foot gap at the end of the border fence 60 miles east of San Diego, California, is one of the latest routes many people are taking.
“60 Minutes” showed dozens of Chinese passing through the small opening early one morning, undisturbed by cameras and armed border agents standing nearby. In four days, staff counted nearly 600 immigrants, many of them Chinese, crossing the border through the illegal entry route.
In 2023, the Border Patrol arrested 37,000 Chinese citizens illegally crossing the border, a 50-fold increase from 2021. Many Chinese citizens interviewed by “60 Minutes” said they were trying to escape their home country’s repressive politics and declining economy.
They claim they learned about this particular route on TikTok. In fact, “60 Minutes” was able to find videos providing detailed step-by-step instructions on how to make the trek across South America to the Mexico-U.S. border, including how to hire smugglers to take them to this specific opening in the fence.
Border closed to journalists, but not to illegal crossers
Meanwhile, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson noted1 As the border crisis continues to worsen, authorities are cutting off journalists. “To be clear, they are not cutting off access to people crossing the border illegally,” she said. “They cut off access to the media. So while foreigners can still cross the border at will, accredited media are restricted from entering public places where we can see.”
Texas is now trying to stem the thousands of migrants arriving at the border every day. Under Operation Lone Star,2 The state of Texas is funding the installation of anti-climb fences and razor wire in areas that were previously fully open. Twenty-five other governors also supported Texas’ decision to crack down on border incursions.
In January 2024, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in an interview with Fox News that “because the Biden administration has really abdicated its responsibility to secure the border and enforce the law, Texas is ensuring the border Safety.”3
Texas also passed a new law that will take effect on March 5, 2024, making it a crime to cross the border illegally. Local police will have the power to make arrests, and judges can order illegal border crossers to be deported back to Mexico.
Meanwhile, Abbott has taken to busing a small number of apprehended illegal border crossers to sanctuary cities in other states. Having had to endure the consequences of an unchecked influx, some sanctuary cities are now beginning to reconsider the sanity of unvetted immigrants.
A lack of jobs, housing, food, and social services ultimately fuels crime and makes American communities less safe and less livable.4 So while some illegal immigrants may be fleeing dire conditions back home, Biden’s open-border policies also ensure those same people will fare no better here.
Sanctuary cities are waking up to the problem
For example, in February 2023, a local news station in San Francisco reported:5
“As fentanyl continues to kill an alarming number of overdose victims, San Francisco is reconsidering its ‘sanctuary city’ status. Investigators believe a significant portion of San Francisco’s drug traffickers – as much as half – are undocumented immigrants.
“It’s time to remove sanctuary protections for undocumented immigrants who traffic fentanyl on our streets,” Supervisor Matt Dorsey said Tuesday. Dorsey is proposing legislation to change San Francisco’s sanctuary city policy to Excludes undocumented immigrants arrested for dealing powerful opioids.
The legislation would deny ‘sanctuary’ to adults who have been convicted of a felony fentanyl dealing offense within the past seven years and are rearrested for another fentanyl dealing crime or a violent felony. “
The burden of illegal immigration is also being felt in places like New York City, another once-proud sanctuary. In early February 2024, Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York State, wrote in the New York Post:6
“New York City’s immigration crisis reaches a new level of madness: Offering free rooms and food to the thugs who looted us. Maria Manaura, 32, arrested at least eight times in six months after arriving from Venezuela, She stayed at the Row NYC Hotel, which has been praised for its unparalleled Times Square location and front-row views of the Theater District.
The area is now rife with drugs and violence, but 1,300 rooms for immigrants still cost taxpayers $500 a night. Last week, Manaura was arrested again for snatching a woman’s mobile phone on the No. 6 train.
She was charged with grand larceny and resisting arrest, but instead of locking her up, Judge Jay Weiner gave her supervised release, likely allowing her to return to the hotel in time for another meal at your and my expense Prepared meals. How disgusting.
Immigrants like Manaula who have run-ins with police should be ineligible for the city’s generous aid. Giving repeat offenders hotel rooms and free meals makes it easier for them to commit crimes and makes us the scapegoat.
Democrats are turning New York City into a Shangri-La where international thieves and immigrants rob and steal. Taxpayers pay for the thieves’ hotel stays, plus three meals a day, a long list of other benefits, and even free bus tickets when they have to rush out of town. What’s not to like about you being a criminal? …
Last week, Mayor Adams signed a $137 million contract to provide more hotel rooms to immigrants and announced that the city will issue debit cards — worth up to $1,000 a month… that will make immigrant-owned vs. low-income New York People have the same purchasing power. It’s legal here.
Immigrants must sign an affidavit that they will use the funds only for food and baby supplies. That’s laughter. But there’s nothing funny about an invasion by career criminals posing as asylum seekers. New York has a heart, but it’s time for New York to use its brains. “
Biden has outsourced immigration to cartels
As Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reports in his mini-documentary “Midnight on the Border,” Biden’s open-border policies have created a humanitarian crisis of staggering proportions.
One of the key takeaways from Kennedy’s exposé is that the Biden administration is effectively outsourcing U.S. immigration to cartels. In fact, several cartels are now vying for supremacy. There have been 300 assassinations in 18 months as drug cartels battle for control of a $13 billion-a-year human trafficking business, according to Yuma County, Arizona 2nd Precinct Supervisor Jonathan Lines event.7
Once illegal immigrants reach U.S. soil, FEMA pays to fly them wherever they want. In other words, U.S. taxpayers are footing the bill for a cartel-led invasion.
Those who believe that open borders policy is somehow a humanitarian policy clearly do not understand how this policy works and affects people in the real world. Migrants face violence, sexual assault, extortion and robbery during their journey.
The trafficking of children for sex is perhaps the most disturbing part of this crisis. As of April 2023, the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement has lost track of 85,000 unaccompanied migrant children who entered the United States in the past two years.8
As Yuma County Sheriff L.N. Wilmot told Kennedy, children are being exploited sexually and financially as a result of the open border policy, which is absolutely inhumane. The sponsors or recipients of these children are not even vetted to ensure that these children do not go directly into some pedophile ring or illegal business.
Congress allocates three times more to protect foreign borders than our own
As we face an unprecedented crisis at home, Congress is preparing to vote on a “border security” bill that would allocate three times as much funding as our own border to secure Ukraine’s borders. Of the $118.28 billion package proposed on February 5, 2024, $60.06 billion would be used to protect Ukrainian sovereignty, and only $20.23 billion would be used to fund operational needs at the U.S. border.9
Of course, of that $60.06 billion, $48.4 billion will be earmarked for Pentagon spending.10 America’s weapons stockpiles are depleted, so a large part of this “aid” will flow into the pockets of American arms manufacturers. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that more than three times more money is spent on Ukraine’s “security” than on our country’s basic security.
However, House Speaker Mike Johnson said the bill would be “dead on arrival.” “This bill is worse than we expected and falls far short of ending the disaster at the border the President has created,” he tweeted.11
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Schumer warned that if we don’t spend this money on Ukraine now, we will eventually have to send U.S. troops to fight Russia. However, as EU Times points out,12 Ukraine is not a member of NATO and therefore is not entitled to U.S. protection, let alone U.S. military protection.
Perhaps the most controversial but least talked about part of the bill is that it would allow up to 5,000 illegal immigrants a day to cross the U.S. border before closing it.13 A year later, this number will reach 1.82 million. This is close to the number of illegal entries recorded in 2021 (1.66 million) and not far from the surge in 2022 (2.2 million).14 This is not what is called border security at all. Rather, it is the legalization of illegal immigration.
According to a 2018 study by Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the undocumented illegal immigrant population in the United States is 22 million, twice the official estimate.15 Since then, millions more have arrived.
Undocumented immigrants take limited state and city resources away from legal citizens and residents who pay for these resources through taxes. In one example, in early January 2024, students at Brooklyn’s James Madison High School were told classes would be conducted remotely because 2,000 immigrants were temporarily sheltering at the school due to severe weather.16
This is a completely unsustainable situation, yet our political leadership pretends it will resolve itself. Will not. It’s time to recognize that promoting illegal immigration is an important part of a larger “Great Reset” plan to eliminate national sovereignty and borders, not just in the United States but around the world.
Immigration is a complex issue, but it is not insurmountable. America has been a melting pot of immigrants since its founding, but without the rule of law we can only expect lawlessness, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing.
As Kennedy suggested in “Midnight on the Border,” we need “high walls and wide doors.” This means that illegal crossings need to be eliminated and those who want to come here need to seek and obtain work permits, residency or citizenship in a legal and expedited manner so that they can become productive, contributing members of society .
