Wheels kicked off 2023 with a bang.
Larry “Wheels” Williams has never shied away from sharing his ambitious goals. Recently, the powerlifter/strongman/phenomenal influencer embarked on a new training journey alongside testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). As he approaches a “mock” powerlifting event, Wheels shares an update on his ongoing strength progress, the biggest powerlifting event ever for competitive lifts like the bench press and squat.
On January 2, 2023, Wheels posted a video of himself on his Instagram 360 kg (793.6 lb) raw deadlift Go barefoot and wear a weightlifting belt. According to the title of Wheels’ post, This is his heaviest pull with TRT It was also one of his final steps before the mock meeting, on an undisclosed date. Wheels stated that he weighed 255 pounds. (Note: Wheels writes that the deadlift is 795 lbs, but that may have been a typo).
Since late summer of 2022, the main hallmark of Wheels’ fitness and strength journey has been the dramatic improvement in his lifts on TRT.
Wheels had previously performed 15 original squats at 224.5 kg (495 lb) on an AMRAP attempt in September 2022 before using the TRT to set the heaviest pull ever. Then, in late November 2022, Wheels will be able to perform six raw squats of 305 kg (672.4 lb). As for his bench press progress, Wheels released a video from late December 2022 in which the athlete completed a 230 kg (507 lb) raw bench press and a 252.6 kg (252.6 kg) 557 lb bench press.
Another added effect of Wheels’ status on TRT is that he lost a lot of weight. The athlete has yet to specify how much weight he has lost. For some cases, according to open weightlifting, Wheels competed in the 140kg class in Arnold’s final weightlifting event at the 2020 Extreme Powerlifting Conference (XPC), and entered that event at 283.6 pounds.he Since then, he has lost about 10% of his body weight.
After the holidays and into the New Year, many athletes may only be starting to make long-term goals for a full, clean calendar. That doesn’t appear to be the case for Wheels, who has already had success in 2023. Whenever he completes a mock lift, it’s clear that Wheels will keep hitting full steam ahead for the next task on his lifting list.
